The Horse Trials
Eventing is integral to the Park, as both a core element of our history and one of the standouts of our facility’s offerings. We host Horse Trials from Starter through Advanced, as well as clinics, schooling shows and Pony Club events. Our courses have been created by famed international designers and we support cross-country schooling for our membership.

Since 2022, Cross-Country course design has been reinspired by Derek di Grazia and Bert Wood. Wood and crew have brought new energy and life to the courses to keep Woodside at the highest caliber of the sport. The Horse Park and Christina Gray with Gray Area Events Team have led the management of the horse trials trying to roll out the hospitality with a fun competitive atmosphere. Woodside offers a wide range of special events with the Modified Match in May, Novice Stakes in August and the FEI CCI1*-4*-Short divisions, so there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Cross-Country
Founders Cup
The CTETA Founder’s Cup is a perpetual trophy presented by founding members Kay Hitch and Vicki Stashuk-Matisi, and is given to the winner of the CCI4*S. The Founder’s Cup was first awarded in 2006 in honor of Robert E. Smith whose idea and drive started and sustained CTETA, the Combined Training Equestrian Team Alliance, with the lease of the Gurnsey Field from Stanford University in 1981. Now known as The Horse Park at Woodside, the history of the Horse Park by Dan Byrum, August 2006 gives the involved background.
Directors Cup
The Directors Cup is a per perpetual trophy presented in 2023 with the inaugural running of the Modified/1* Course. Directors felt that Providing a challenge as well as a new opportunity to help equine partners move up from Training to their first FEI event, with a trophy to honor that achievement.
Volunteer
Come join the fun at the Woodside Horse Trials! We are excited to continue offering top-notch events at the beautiful Horse Park. Volunteers will receive certificates that can be used toward entries at our Horse Trials or schooling shows as well as cross country schooling.
For a full day shift you get $80, for a half-day shift $40, plus coffee and doughnuts and snacks, and lunch for our all-day volunteers.
